*An awesome 5 runners ran to the carer's garden in Barnsley to empty some flowerpots and clear the path of leaves. *

While Egg was away on a GoodGym tourism trip (she might be working but her strava doesn't look like she is!), Aron stepped in to lead the Barnsley gang. So we didn't get horribly lost, Josh stepped up to lead us out towards the task, after Aron led a quick warm up.

Once we arrived at the Carer's garden, Gordon wasn't exactly sure how we should help him, but we settled on emptying out a bunch of old plant pots, and clearing the entrance and pathways of leaves.

"How many Goodgymmers does it take to empty a plant pot?" Sharon

It turns out the answer was 3, with Josh, Dan and Connor all getting stuck in to empty out a big heavy plant pot. With all the pots emptied and the soil expertly wheelbarrowed to the base of a Mulberry bush, the gang moved on to clearing the leaves from the entrance, and clearing the paths.

With everyone pitching in it took no time at all, with five bags filled with leaves, and Dan expertly sweeping away anything we couldn't pick up, we had the place looking spick and span.

"I'm not going to tell my husband what I've been up to when I get home" Sharon again

Thankfully I think Sharon was just hoping to hide the fact that she's been clearing leaves, when there are loads of leaves to clear at home. Otherwise that could have been a bit awkward.

Anyway, we made our way back to Shaw Lane, stopping off to do some running drills, with a focus on form, quick feet and balance. Everyone smashed the exercises including:

  • 3 types of skipping
  • Fast feet side steps
  • Double and single leg bounces
  • Walking lunges

Armed with new technique focus, the runners ran a few intervals around the block and then zoomed up the hill to finish.

We rounded the night off with a bit of a leg-burner with "Sally squats" and of course the press up challenge, before a nice gentle stretch session to see us on our way.
