Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Joel Wiles
12 Of Hackneys finest GoodGymers ran 6k to help reinvigorate Homerton Grove Park as it becomes the boroughs first Smoke free Green Space.
Starting the evening welcoming our amazing GoodGym first timers Hannah and Lisa to the squad and sneaking a twilight run through Victoria Park just before the gates shut. We ran the bulk of our distance with a strong 4K to meet Bruce and the rest of the Park Ranger team.
After a little detour in the adventure playground we got cracking with our edging task, cutting in with the half moon and slicing the turf away with the shovel!
Once we hit our stride there was no stopping us! Gathering momentum as we went the overgrown path was whipped into shape as 7 wheelbarrows full of turf were escorted away.
A last flurry of activity got the paths swept and clear all the edging in the park looked crisp like Rich's new hair cut!
We headed off into the night with are task complete!
2k at a nice tempo saw us back to base where we stretched out and disappeared to refuel.
Get yourself along next week for a fun task for Jack's 50th and final GoodDeed before he moves back to Wales!!
Remember Saturday's Hackney Marshes Parkrun/Tree Musketeer mash up!! Sign up here.
Have a great week and see you next time.
