22 GoodGym warriors ran 4.5k to Wilton Estate Community garden to chop, shovel and dig on Metal Health day #TriveLDN
Great to have some new faces this evening on a lovely East London evening. After a little chat including a big congratulations to Mireille for her Oxford Half marathon run and The Quiz Master unloaded a big time question on us!!
How many countries competed in the Rio Olympic 2016??
With numbers buzzing around our heads we took the scenic 4K loop down Broadway market and back up Queens bridge road until we made it to Wilton Estate to meet Debbie for the first time in a while.
Splitting into 3 group we had the choppers who had the task of cutting a big hedge down to size, aiming to trim it down to about 160cm high but neat and tidy then transporting the cuttings to the compost pile.
The second group were shovelling to glory moving a big pile of soil off the path and creating a new rug covered pile.
The third and biggest group were in the Orchard creating a path for wild flowers to be sown by digging up the grass and accurately crafting a winding path through the trees.
With 40 minutes of graft we had made massive progress! And we will be back very soon to to finish off the path and many other tasks throughout the winter!
A short run back, stretch out and the big Quiz question guessing game conducted by Quiz master Ros. Producing a stunning guess from GoodGym first timer Stuart getting the closest to the correct 216 counties competing at the Rio Olympics and winning some Quince Jelly!!
Next week we are off to Hackney Wick community garden for some more cultivating Tuesday fun!
See you there!!
