11 runners ran 4km to pull up the bind weed attacking a community allotment.

A great start to the run this week, with 4 people looking to get Mission verified, and a few new faces too. Big cheers to Zoe, Grace, Laura, and Olivia for making out on such a humid evening! And Lucy joined us on tour from Islington. With the introductions made, we headed out side, where Sarah lead the warm-up. Starting with a series of dynamic stretches, and including a couple of rounds of cups and cones.

Go team cups!

We then headed out to Living Under One Sun, where Layla was waiting for us with a bucket of gloves, and some much appreciated water and juice! L.U.O.S have been quite focused on the Community Cafe, and the path through their allotments was becoming somewhat overgrown with weeds. It was even starting to make it's way up the grape vine.

So we got stuck in pulling up, and separating out the weeds. The bind weed will sprout in compost, so needed to be kept in different piles from the grasses and other weeds. At one point, a big waft of mint spread across the group, and cuttings were taken for home potting. Then a big waft of malt, which was confusing, until I remembered we were across the road from a brewery!

With the path cleared, we headed back in Peloton style. Each time a runner found themselves at the back, they sprinted to the front. Interval training like this is great for building speed. Then, once we reached the cycle track behind the police station, we set up a few 3 person continuous relays, to try out Balloon Head running, which works on running posture. Before heading back for stretches and chatted about some forthcoming races.

As we were leaving for dinner, we ran into Laura from the Friends of Tottenham Green, who let us know about some forthcoming plans. Fingers crossed they work out!
