GoodGym's Golden Girls (plus Liam)
On this balmy morning, I was initiated on my first Saturday run on a last-minute task to help at Golden Hill Community Garden. After a 2.5 kilometre run to the start of the big hill we were dreading, some of the group still had the energy to dazzle us with a sprint up it!
Fair Fairies
After our legs were warmed up by the top of the hill, we were greeted by the Fair Fairy, Lucy, who was organising the Golden Hill Community Allotment's Spring Fair, happening just hours after our stint at the Allotments. With the arrival of the local crowds looming, we were quickly split into three teams. The Bunting Team did an impressive job of showering the allotments with colourful bunting (whoever knew this was a use for bra straps?). The Plant-Moving Team held up their end of GoodGym muscle provision in the set-up and carted crates of plants and flowers before trying to work if they were, in fact, plants or flowers ready for sale. Meanwhile, the Book Team were carefully moving heavy books onto a (slightly worringly wobbly) table, and finding potential gardening book relics from 1913. Looking forward to that Antiques Roadshow episode...
All downhill from here
With the Allotment looking colourful and ready for book and plant lovers to come and shop their hearts out, we reluctantly dragged ourselves away, not without a few mourning looks at the heating-up pizza oven or the courgette plants which we sadly concluded would not enjoy the bouncy downhill run home.
A big well done to everyone, and good luck to Kait, Julie and Alex who were lumbering up their legs for the Bristol 10k with their golden input.
And if there wasn't enough of a hill fix this morning, we only have to wait until Tuesday for an opportunity to run at Round 2 of the Golden Hill.
