13 people ran 7.5km to recce our soon to be adopted canal towpath area, cleaning up on our way
Tonight, it was great to welcome 4 new ‘goodgymers’, Ed, James, Graeme and George. Great to have you on board fellas. On a nice mild evening, we headed on our route down to the canal. We ran along our new ‘adopted baby’ clearing some rubbish on the way.
"Wrong turning??"
After running around about 1.5km, we came to the Aston lock, carrying on straight ahead, only to realise we had slightly missed our right turn! It isn’t half a bit dark down those towpath’s so very easily done! It didn’t matter though, it just meant we had to turn around and come back so adding a bonus kilometre to our journey!
"Bootcamp time"
Once off the canal we took a steady run back towards our base, before a quick intense hill sprint into our fitness session stomping ground St Paul’s square. Once in the square we got to work with a ‘mini bootcamp’. The group blasted out some press ups, Phill and James smashing them out like ninja warriors! We then held a yoga style plank, Charlotte and Eva showing great core strength, before doing some pulse racing tuck jumps, James showing great power in the hamstrings to get those knees right up to the chest. Then just before we headed back to base we stuck in some killer wall squats, Katie showing great determination and not one person cheated by sitting on the wall ledge! What a great group you are!
With the legs now feeling like they had been attacked with a sledgehammer, everyone was pleased it was just a short distance back to base!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here

Sorry I missed it this week but sounds like you had a great time. The canal will be a fantastic place to run on the lighter evenings!
I should have remembered my head torch. It was very dark. Good run. Homeless cheered us along several times.
Yes definitely a head torch required for next time. Plus need to practice those wall squats!
