Camden in Bloom marking!
Cecil Sharp Report by PB:
12 of us headed to Cecil Sharp House for our monthly visit to help Susanna with the gardening and importantly preparing the gardens for the Camden in Bloom marking that is happening at 3pm today! We split into teams:
Well done everybody - we worked out that is at least 5 hours for Susannah - massive impact!
After a group pic we headed to Primrose Hill to have a go at Frances's Meet & Retreat Game where in pairs we ran to meet each other in a circle, highfived and headed back - fast out and easy back. We did the game twice - nice one!
Antrim Allotments Report by Pritesh:
Ten GoodGym-ers headed up to Belsize Park this week with Chris leading the way. Having been up to Antrim Grove a few times we decided to mix things up with a route that took us away from Primrose Hill and along the canal through Camden Market which was abuzz with locals enjoying the evening sun. Upon arrival Michael greeted us and quickly split the group up so we could help in the various allotments that needed work.
Stubborn bindweed
Some helped to remove some stubborn bindweed that had managed to pull down a pear tree and was encroaching on more well tended patch. It was hard work, not least because they were working under a holly bush that kept pricking them if they weren’t careful. The remainder of the group were split and worked on digging a large hole in the ground that was going to become a compost bin and others worked on digging out some more bindweed – pesky stuff that it is – from around the allotment.
With our work done everyone gathered for a group photo and we were even rewarded with some plums and bay leaves fresh from the allotment! Tasty treats for tasty work. Michael and Piers from the allotment were really happy with the work we got done and invited us back to help again which we surely will do. After saying our goodbyes Chris took charge again and we ran back joining the Cecil Sharp group at the bottom end of Primrose Hill so we could all run back to Somers Town together.
See some of you in Wales to Race the Train and the rest of you next week - had a few tasks cancel but we will either be gardening for Castlehaven, sanding chairs for St Luke's or painting for the Farm - more info to come.
PB out.
