Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Share the love

A dozen GoodGym runners trouped 3km (and more) to a local church and totally swept up.

This week we had 4 fresh new faces, welcome to Robyn, Jenny, Simon and Daniela. The GoodGym wording is spreading far and wide - yay!

Our session was designed to include a shorter run enabling newbies to join us and try out the GoodGym experience. We headed from Urban Reef through the beautiful Boscombe Chine gardens. Good work on tackling the hill. I think we were so busy chatting we barely noticed it!

We ran along the main Christchurch Road, looking very conspicuous now we have more red t-shirts on show. Managed to press gang a passing runner into getting involved!

Our task was at St Swithuns Church, famous for its pokestop. True to it's reputation we saw crowd of Pokemon hunters gathering at the rumoured sight of Pikachu....(?!). Our taskmaster Emma met us and handed bin bags, litter pickers, brooms and bags. Our task was to sweep up. Leaves were burying the Tarmac pathways so we set off sweeping and bagging literally mountains of autumnal debris. Some runners were very overexcited to be using 'the claw' litter pickers...plenty more of that to come!

We managed to clear the paths and went into the church to pray for a non-windy night so out hard work was visible the next morning! A really key task to ensure all patrons of the church can access the building safely using these paths...and the pricing up added to the beautiful of this historic church.

The gang felt the love and posed for a pic before running back to base, either at race pace or part of a chatty pack.

Everyone did a great job throughout, our work is being recognised more and more in the local community and by the regeneration councillors we met at launch night.

Next week we run to the a Salvation Army - it will involve fabulousness, fun and fitness. 6:15pm Urban Reef Wednesday. Spread the word! Get fit, do good.....simples!

Until next week.....
