Madhan and Claire were part of the early shift at Ealing Soup Kitchen, setting up tables and snack bags for the beneficiaries. It was Claire's 100th good deed today, which is an awesome achievement! 🥳💪
Claire was asked to help organise the women's clothing, ready for the clients to arrive at 18:15. She took care to sort the clothes by size and style as well as you'd find in a trendy boutique. Madhan on the other hand needed less style and more speed for each snack bag. 1 apple, 1 drink, 3 snacks. 1 apple, 1 drink, 3 snacks. 1 apple...
Sevan and Kash arrived as the doors opened. Sevan joined Claire in advising clients on available clothes sizes and styles while Kash slid around to the men's clothing section to handle the boots and jeans. Soon Michelle arrived and joined Claire, helping out with womens clothing. This allowed Sevan, not being well versed in women's fashion, to go and help sort new donations instead. He felt much more at home with the men's winter jackets and jumpers.
We helped serve clients for almost 2 hours and when the queue outside had finally emptied, we helped fold up the tables and put the clothes back into vacuum bags, ready for next week.
Ealing Soup Kitchen is a registered charity set up to help the vulnerable and homeless in the area. Nine local churches support our faith-based Soup Kitchen, which has been running since 1973.
