Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Ipswich runner
It was a blustery night as we met on the Waterfront..... sounds like the start of seafaring tale rather than a Goodgym run report! But it was blowing a gale and the sky had turned a vivid red just before darkness fell.
We welcomed Matt on his first Goodgym group run this evening
The Survivors in Transition Centre is only a very short distance from our base so, after a dynamic stretch warm up, we set off in the opposite direction to "loop" round and end up at the centre.
Bessie greeted us and explained their windows had recently been painted and needed dust and scrapings to be hoovered and then the glass cleaned alongside a general tidy up.
Everyone set too, splitting into teams hoovering, cleaning and buffing every window. This was our second visit to SIT and we were amazed at the size of the building and the number of rooms previously. On this visit we discovered there was another room in the attic too.
As the windows began to gleam and sparkle, surfaces were dusted, carpets vaccumed and floors mopped. Within 30 minutes we ran out of things to polish and gathered for a group photo before heading out into the windy evening.
On the return run we incorporated an interval training set, with repetitions into the wind proving popular! Super effort from everyone. As you'll see from the photos everyone was moving so fast the camera couldn't keep up and the poorly executed team selfie was down to the camera rather than the cameraman!
Great work again tonight.
Next week we are revisiting Brickmakers Wood with Angela from Goodgym Colchester standing in for me as I'll be on holiday.
