Report written by Ipswich runner
We were a little lower on numbers tonight than previous weeks but a big welcome to Heidi and Jason on their first Group Run.
Tonight we returned once again to Castle Hill Community Centre with the aim of completing the painting task we had started last week.
The 2.5 mile run out passed quickly with the front runners taking ad hoc diversions up and down side roads to enable the whole group to stick close together.
On arrival Garath greeted us with brushes, rollers and paint in place ready to go. Everyone dived in and the second coat of magnolia was completed in an amazingly rapid time.
All the way round the room was a wide panel above a picture rail which also required painting , but in white. The only thing that prevented this also being completed within the 35 minutes was the lack of an additional roller or brush that hadn't already been drenched in magnolia. However Jason, once he was able to commandeer a step ladder, managed to get 1/2 the room done with just 1 brush, with some friendly heckling from the rest of us watching on for the last 10 minutes
Shortly into the return run, a car pulled up alongside us on the busy Norwich Road - and I was prepared for a barage of abuse as the window came down...... Hello Dad ..... was the pleasantly surprising shout out as Robin's family passed by without offering anyone a lift!
The now regular "game" of trains (sprint from the back to the front of the group) took us most of the way back through the town centre and down onto the waterfront.
Apologies for the lack of and poor quality photos this week. I was far too busy joining with the painting this week as the numbers were low. There is even photographic evidence to prove it!
Terrific team work from everyone again this week. Look out for a different task next week - see the link for details:
