Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Share the love

Well we braved it. We were among the howling, screaming, spookiest looking characters Richmond has ever seen (even worse than closing time on a Friday night.) Our task was not a light one, I should know as I carried the leaflets up Richmond Hill. At a guess we said there was a thousand leaflets and whilst we did not manage to deliver them all we spread as much of the goodness that we could on such a creepy evening.

Our disguises were awesome, in fact they were so good that I've never seen better versions of the invisible man in all my Halloween years! This made it difficult to share the leaflets with those we could not see so left 4 of us to administer the task. One of which was dressed as cat woman with a spider for a hand!

Whilst the spider added to the spooky ambience it also managed to eat a task sheet (will let Jane explain at the next social.)

The leaflets we delivered were on behalf of Richmond Adult Community College who are looking to recruit a new trustee to liaise with local charities within our community. These leaflets were alerting the local people of the opporunity with the hope that they will get an influx of suitable candidates. Dodging the pumpkins , the skeleton swinging lanterns and cobwebs that hung on every other door we distributed as many as we could (couldn't hand any to the invisible men as we couldn't see them – spooky) in our small team.

We did all this without managing to step on cat woman's tail, incorporated a mini circuit with firework views over looking the grand beauty from Richmond Hill. The run trainer despite his awful voice tried to sing the words to Thriller as the GG team ran through some poorly choreographed spooky dance moves which left their quadriceps screaming, hallowing even from the thriller on the hiller of Richmond! HA HA HA HA H.....!!!

As a run trainer and one who has lived in Richmond for a number of years I can safely say that this was one of my favourite Halloween evenings. Whether it was running from door to door in the shadows of my fellow GG runner dressed as cat woman or simply being caught up in so many different groups enjoying their Halloween celebrations; I could not help think of those in the gym, on a step machine missing out on all of this atmosphere whilst doing good at the same time. I was sure my legs were aching as much as theirs must be from all the steps to the huge houses in Richmond. I smiled as I thought of how fit we are getting doing good.

Two points to note guys, there is a GG Social at Crown Shuttle on 3rd November, 6.30pm, E1 6PJ. The other point and what is perhaps the scariest thing of the evening is that not enough of us are talking about GoodGym. By this I guess I'm saying that we need you to make GoodGym work, not just by your attendance but by spreading the news about just how good we are. Please consider sharing our activities on your social media with your friends, bring a friend, let your friend borrow your t shirt on a Monday night if you can't make it – we must talk about GoodGym.

Final point, dear Graze team Christmas is coming and Santa loves all the good snacks that you have been delivering to the hungry runners (thank you Michelle and Tom).
