4 fabulous runners ran a mile up the road to help out at Emmanuel Church in Barnsley.

Thankfully, the rain mostly held off for the four of us to hot-foot it up the road to Emmanuel Church. We met with Dawn and her husband in one of the spacious rooms there to help clean up the toddler toys.

There were a few boxes full of toys that needed scrubbing and wiping, including a delightful play kitchen (which was far from tea-dious! ☕️), lots of cars and wheeled toys, some cute wild animals and some classic dinosaur models 🦖.

Once they were all clean, we packed them back into their boxes and stored them away. Then we used our cloths to have a good old scrub down of the skirting and door frames around the room, just in time for the next room users to come in.

We thanked Dawn and said our goodbyes for now, then had a good mile run back to base - some of us even ran a further six miles back home!

This weekend, we are volunteering at Penistone Leisure Centre with an open painting task. Sign up here.

For our group run next Wednesday, we are heading back to the BCDP to help categorise donations again. Sign up here.
