6 super runners ran 2 miles to help clean and sort toys at the Bridge community centre!

It was another FREEEZING evening last night. But that didn't stop our lovely runners from wrapping up and running to do good! We had a great turn out of first timers, yay! Elliot & Amy and also Mike & Katie! Welcome to the gang guys!! It was the five of us plus our weekly trooper Vickie.

We dropped off our bags and did a quick warm up. Just some basic drills as we needed to get warm.. FAST! After a few minutes, the hearts were definitely pumping (well mine sure was anyway!) and we got on our way!

It's locked!

Luckily The Bridge isn't too far away, just over a mile away, so we got there pretty quickly! My heart sank a little bit as we ran towards the gate as it looked like it was bolted and locked shut, which it was. Luckily Mike kept his cool and just walked an extra metre and pointed out the wide open door.....

We ran through the rather creepy park and graveyard but before we knew it, we had arrived. Throughout the whole run I was praying that the toys to clean would be inside and luckily they were.. HOORAY!

We met Raeleen and her daughter who was having a sleepover with her friend that night so they were feeling rather energetic! We got out all the boxes of toys and were tasked with cleaning any which were particularly grubby and just doing a major sort and putting everything in the right boxes... which was a puzzle in itself. In the wooden section alone there were at least 4 categories! Wooden blocks, coloured wooden blocks, wooden hospital, wooden castle, and probably something else too! But when you get your head around the different types of toys, it wasn't so bad and things were coming together!

Elliot & Amy were working on sorting the cars and some dinosaurs (I think?!), whilst Vickie sorted out some Lego and wood blocks. Mike was on washing up duty and Katie was dryer-upper. All in all, some great team work going on!

After about half an hour, everything was sorted, cleaned and condensed down and we even freed up 3 containers! Nice! We took a group photo and said the first Merry Christmas of the year as we said goodbye and got running again.

Squats and planks!

We arrived back at our base and did a little high intensity Tabata workout to ensure everyone stayed warm! We alternated between a glutes exercises and a core exercises as it's so important for those to be strong! We added in a final sprint at the end and we were done! A few stretches to finish off and VOILA!

It was lovely to meet you all! Great job on the task, and well done for coming out in the freezing weather! Hopefully see you all next week for our new task location!
