Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
12 Sun-loving GoodGym-ers ran a total of 8km to dig a pond for Sufra Community Foodbank
It wasn't a case of hot dogs or legs tonight - it was hot digging and using our legs as the advertised plan of a track session and the advertised wonder that is Ellie Wood didn't materialise in Brent!
What did materialise were 10 super keen runners who weren't scared by a bit of sun and were ready to get going! Tonight we were heading to Sufra Community Foodbank to help with some digging!
SUNNY!
With Clare and Laura knowing the way we had them lead us and the rest followed in line with Dan keeping everyone safe at the back!
After a solid 30 minute run, not the most fun in the heat, we arrived at Sufra and met Mohammed who had water ready for us - we were grateful and quenched our thirst! We were also met by GG Brent legends Claire and Sadhana who despite missing the run were still here to put in a shift.
Mohammed then took us down the street to the St Raphael's Edible Food Garden Project and outlined the work we had to do. As part of the garden there will be a pond and we were helping to dig out the space where the pond would be.
Pond life...
This was hard work let alone the heat and hardened ground but this is GoodGym and we all put our backs into it and we reckon we got about 10 wheelbarrows worth of soil shifted! Mohammed said his thanks, we had a quick water stop and then we were on our way! Claire and Sadhana left us at the task and in fact with various runners taking advantage of homes being en route by the time we were back to base at the Queensbury we had only four runners! We had a good stretch off and then we all headed home!
Lovely Brent!
It's always lovely to come up to Brent and lovely to meet so many new faces! Thanks for all the help and hope to see you all soon!
Pritesh!
