Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Saturday morning was all about the new faces as we met on a drizzly wind-swept Clapham Common for our Wandsworth starter session.
We were surrounded by sweeper arms above freezing, giant pigeon gladiators, ramps, slides and a huge Travelator - the fifteen new runners were almost convinced that this was their initiation into the GoodGym family, before realising that it was all there for a completely different obstacle race. Sighs of relief all round, we talked about what GoodGym was really all about – getting fit and doing good in Wandsworth.
The runners then had a chance to have a think about their goals, and to test out those bods in a fitness session. There were squats and lunges, high knees and mountain climbers, and the dreaded burpees. They flipping hurt, but it’s worth it!
From there we set off to the Eden Community Garden where we spent some time skimming the ponds, turning the compost, weeding the civil war graveyard and raking the leaves. Upper bodies were worked, weeds dispatched and huge frogs discovered. With a gentle jog back to the end point, we finished off the welcome session with a discussion on fitness goals. Whether it is to be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping, to nail that 5k, or to improve your general well-being, GoodGym can help get you there.
We finished off with a few stretches, including Tom’s fiendish half-pigeon ( a Real Thing). Hope to see you all soon lovely new runners, welcome to GoodGym!
