9 nifty runners ran 6km to water the new plants in Walpole Park!
Can you believe we are already in May? I know the Justin Timberlake memes have been forewarning us for the past few weeks but I just think it's crazy that we are nearly half way through the year already. BUT, on the plus side, it does mean the park is open until 9 woohoo! And good job too since we spent the whole evening there last night! Walpole Park is lovely!
Last night we were joined by 2 first timers: Roisin and Cathy. Nice to meet you both! Give them a big CHEER!
We welcomed back Tash & Tim who you would think have known each other their whole lives with all the abuse that was going on between the two of them but this was only the second time you guys had met?! That's what I love about GoodGym... friends are made in an INSTANT! :) Or enemies in this case.
We also had our lovely regular trio Kerry, Steph & Rosie, plus a GG tourist AAALLLLLLLL the way over from my neck of the woods, Ben!
We did a little warm up down the beautiful alleyway and headed off for a loop around the park stopping for a nice group pic by the fountain! A mile or so later, we arrived only to find 2 watering cans...... and one water point. The boys got to work straight away, hooking up the hose and filling up the watering cans. Lucky for Tim, Ben had the hose and not Tash although you could just see it in her eyes that she couldn't wait to get her hands on it!
The girls went off for another lap round the park while Ben, Steph & Tim did the first round of watering duty. When the girls got back from their run we switched over and we got a little bit of a relay thing going on! After 20 minutes or so, all the baby plants had been watered and everyone had managed to contribute which was great. Plus you all got to get more of a run in, which can't be a bad thing right??
Pyramids!
I had spotted a nice long and curved bench perfect for the fitness session! We did 3 exercises, 3 rounds. 1st round was 30 seconds per exercise, the 2nd round was 60 seconds and then back down to 30 for the 3rd round so kind of like a pyramid! We did some squat jumps, tricep dips and incline press ups using the benches. Now the next time you go out for a run and you spot a bench, you know what to do! Hopefully those arms aren't feeling too sore today........ :)
One last loop around the park and we made our way back via the cute little bridge.
Thanks so much for coming everyone! Sorry there wasn't a huge amount for you all to do but hope you still enjoyed the session. See you next week!
