Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Alyx Murray-Jackman
As Alex stayed at home to rest after being ill, the Tower Hamlets crew welcomed me to their area with open arms.
We had a quick introduction and welcomed Isha to GoodGym - give her a cheer everybody! We also found out that Ben had run a Marathon in Italy at the weekend and Chris did a half-marathon with a PB!
We started our evening run with a warm up and some quick introductions to find out what everyones favourite ice cream flavour is (although it will probably be a while til we all get to try them again with this cold weather!). Coconut was a surprisingly common answer with cookie dough and chocolate also featuring heavily. We then set out on a short run to a new task at the Cranbrook Community Centre.
The task: After a 1km run there, we were greeted by Lizzy, who showed us the edge garden that they needed clearing of leaves. We split up into small groups and took different part of the edge garden to clear. Kitted out in our head torches and gloves, we got a lot done in the short amount of time we were there, and Lizzy was very happy with our work. We filled lots of bags, which are all ready to go on their compost heap!
Once finished we made our way to Wennington Green for a speedy fitness session made up of time based sprint intervals and some core triathlons and then headed back to base for some stretches.
Great running from everyone today - thank you for having me Tower Hamlets!
You'll be back with Alex next week when you clear ivy at a local cemetery park - sign up here.
