22 Goodgymers ran 6km and helped Octopus Community Gardens getting ready for Islington in Bloom
Welcome along to newbies Clara, Laura and Uri - lovely to have you along!
In the news this week:
Due to the world cup we were meeting at the Arc Centre instead of the Arsenal, this meant a more interesting wiggly route in the Islington backstreets.
The run there was pretty much a steady incline all the way, at least it meant the way back would be easier. Once we climbed the last big hill we turned into Caledonian Park to find the wonderful Anita from Octopus Community Gardeners. This fantastic group look after two plots in the park which are used by older people from the Drovers Centre, which we helped a couple of weeks ago.
22 GGers + 30 minutes = 11 hours of work!
Our tasks were as follows:
Over 30 minutes we got loads done and made a real imapct. All of this work is going towards Islington in Bloom, an amazing local gardening competition to make London greener.
Before we headed home we did a fitness session around the park - everyone worked really hard! Upon our return the team headed to the pub to make Islington's amazing Biscuit Torch!
Next week we are shifting woodchip for Single Homeless Project - sign up here.
