Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
12 runners with high cleaning standards and mega solid cores ran 3km this evening to Copleston Centre Church.
A nice warm up in the wide open and some silly moves to wake up the obliques and we were off towards Goose Green. Big welcome to Helena, Jan, Lucy, Emily, Jasmin and Steve who all came along for the first time. It was so great to have you there.
We all got to work after Catherine at the centre showed us mops, buckets and cloths. Some were outside in slightly precarious positions cleaning the very tall windows. Indoors, the scene wasn't too different. But we soon made them sparkling and gave the rooms a bit more light.
As some may have seen, this guy set the record for planking for 8 hours solidly so we thought we'd give it a go. There was also a report of GoodGym Islington taking on the challenge so why not GoodGym Southwark. With our north of the river contingent cutting off at 5minutes, we wouldn't be outdone. Everyone put in an incredible effort but hats off to Michael and Helena who managed a whopping 7 MINUTES PLANKING
that's right, 7 minutes planking!
A little pale faced, jelly babies came out of the first aid kit and everyone was restored.
Soon, we were on the move again, timed nicely with the heavens opening, to the rye for some circuits.
We split into groups. Some ran out to the rugby posts whilst others burpee'd, crab kicked, mountain climbed and wall (tree) sat. Then they swapped.
in the middle of British summer times finest rain.
We jogged back to Old Spike with the sun breaking through for some stretching and news. Lots of excitement for volunteer week. If you're free on the morning of Wednesday 1st June then sign up here
Lovely.
