Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Laura Waller
On a beautiful Summer Tues evening, 7 Goodgym Kingston runners met in Tolworth to help The Community Brain with some more lockdown weed growth. It was great to see Jacquetta, Celine and Zeff join us for their 1st good deed and welcome Goodgym tourist Adam from Woking on his 2nd Kingston mission!
A while back, as part of the ShedX project, 10 new flower beds were planted down Tolworth Broadway (some goodgymmers might remember helping with this!). Unfortunately the planters had become slightly wild over the last few months, so with excellent direction from Georgia we got to work taming them.
Jacquetta and I started litter picking out of the flowerbeds, whilst Kate, Adam, Celine and Zeff armed themselves with tools and attacked the weeds. Meanwhile, Jane rose bravely to the topiary ball challenge turned down by everyone else in the group.
After 30 mins or so, the good work was interrupted by some very special visitors - Rob and his mini me with some angel wings to celebrate my 100th good deed! After a brief interlude to film a video of the wings in action, it was back to work. After another 40 mins or so, with the beds free of litter and looking a lot neater, we finished off with some final (socially distanced) group photos and piled up the bags ready to be collected.
Welcome/welcome back again to Adam Celine, Zeff and Jacquetta - hope to see you on another mission soon! Finally, thanks to all of Goodgym Kingston for making my 100 good deeds so much fun - look forward to many more :)
