Okay, you'll have to forgive me as the title is not a pun but it's a reference to a series of novels by Patrick Hamilton published in the 1930s, you may have seen the BBC's adaptation a few years ago and at the very least it references the number of choice we have when trying to find the street names starting with any of the letters in WALTHAM FOREST. Mind you, while most of the letters were pretty easy to acquire, I did find E particularly elusive. You will see from the photos that me and my daughter had to go on a seperate mission to acquire that particular vowel.

If you completed the task, well done. I certainly found it an interesting way to explore my local area of Bow and some of the street names were very interesting too. Tom Thumbs Arch was the most quaint but my favorite is Annie Bessant Close. Annie Bessant was an early pioneer of Women's Rights and played an important role in the Matchgirl's Strike of 1888 which took place close to the site of the street that now bears her name.
