It was great to be back out last night with our fabulous Goodgym Gang for our first task of 2022!

And what a great way to start it with a fabulous task at Motherwell – an amazing local charity who we’ve supported on many occasions. It’s always good to be back there and supporting the fantastic work that they do. Tonight, we were tasked with sorting out their garage which basically just needed a good sort out!

We met before the task and started out with a 2-mile run to warm us up – which we needed as it was freezing (and a bit icy) tonight. We looped our way out of the estate where Motherwell is based, and we ran through the village of Wistaston taking in the lovely St. Mary’s church along the route. We also took something else in along the route – the lovely Kat who joined us a little bit later after a busy day at work. Maurice ran to tonight’s task and Claire walked. Claire was hoping to join the walking group tonight having already done a 4-mile hill rep session earlier – but it turned out we didn’t need a walking group tonight, so poor Claire got dragged into another 2 miles with us (and still made it look easy!).

When we got back, we were greeted by Motherwell founder, Kate who gave us our instructions for clearing out the garage… what needed to be kept, what needed to be got rid of. We set up our fantastic lights (it was pitch black at the back of the building) and set to work. We soon had everything out of the garage and sorted into two piles – one for keeping, the other for getting rid. One very large piece of MDF needed sawing up – so Kat who luckily lives just around the corner popped home for a saw and a few other tools to help us get the job done. Claire and Maurice set to work with the saws and soon had the wood small enough to fit into the bin. Emily had great fun with the dressing up items – including flying a broom – which just happened to co-ordinate perfectly with her leggings! Lol!

We swept the garage out, reorganised all the boxes and made space for the racking that we are going to build next week. It definitely looked better after we’d worked our Goodgym magic on it. What a difference a few pairs of hands and a small amount of time can make.

It was a lovely evening spent in lovely company as always. Really good to be back with you all again! I’ve missed you!

Well done team!! Amazing work as always!
