Thinking of a good enough title to signify the return of group activities was tough...what happened tonight has not happened for around 14months after 4 years of weekly 'do-gooding' in Colchester.
We met at the old haunt of Leisure World in the outdoor seating area - which is now a normal thing everywhere! I tried my best to remember the Goodgym speech and scrambled through it and even managed to number off the 'gang' (as we were described lovingly by a friendly cyclist.
With Andrew and James nursing their matching groin injuries we steadily jogged to Worsnop House from where we managed to do a little bit of litter picking that extended on to Old Heath Recreation Ground. On Sunday we are volunteering at Junior Parkrun at the Rec and now it is a bit cleaner and shinier for the kids!
We bumped into the main man at Go4 community cafe too and made arrangements to sort out a task with them soon and then a little fitness!
Using the tree's as markers we paired up to do some shuttle runs, press-upd, squats and burpees! It felt new but the tried and tested Wednesday tradition is back!!!
See you on Sunday and perhaps a parkrun on Saturday too. Stay safe and socially distanced if you can!
Litter blights our streets, parks and beaches and costs us millions of pounds to clear up every year. Keep Britain Tidy is here to inspire people to eliminate litter now and for future generations. This is about more than simply getting people to pick up litter. We aim to change behaviour permanently by spotlighting the problem daily and offering creative solutions. We work with people, businesses, local authorities and government to educate, innovate and inspire - improving the environment on everyone’s doorstep.
