Report written by Yianny (he / him)
Last night we were back at it delivering the beautiful flyers for the Camberwell Winter Festival 2022 and once again a small but fun group turned out to help.
Before we set off this week each person had to introduce themselves then say which animal they would be if they could and why and Inny took a method acting approach and became her animal - abandoning her given name to be known henceforth only as ..... Monkey! The group that set off then consisted of a monkey, a pampered long haired sausage dog, a donkey, a cat and a bush baby, now imagine those characters in a novel - very Life of Pi!! Tilly which was your animal? Post in the comments below!
No warm up required this week as most people ran to Papa's and we were off on a slow and steady jog throughout with plenty of traffic light stops to catch our breath.
We headed over to the borderlands of Myatts Fields where Lambeth meets Southwark and where 'rival' GoodGym boroughs stare across the border scowling at each other. Actually that's not true at all, this task is for an org in Southwark who also want to publicise the Winter Fair to Lambeth residents and we are only too happy to help out. Still feel free to indulge your West Side Story imaginations.
Not much to say about flyering apart from Charlotte putting the ghost of last year's same task to bed by not slipping on any wet leaves (huzzah!) and discovering a second Windmill outside someone's house on Knatchbull Road - who knew?! Lasso well done for handling the local dogs and given it was animal themed night we even had a visit from Fantastic Mr Fox who was playing chicken with the cars to get to a tasty snack in the middle of the road. (No animals were harmed during last night's task).
After a solid 50 minutes we had papered pretty much the whole area (Knatchbull Rd, Penford St, Templar St, Upstall St, Welby St, Inglis St, Calais St, Cormont Rd, Brief St and Burton Rd) and Shauna was left contemplating what we could have achieved if we had a fireman's key to the apartment blocks on Cormont Road (and a dodgy AA...)
Another fun one and just before we all headed home the AA mentioned not one but two upcoming virtual running challenges - keep your eyes peeled on the WhatsApp group for more details (or head over here for a Lambeth GG exclusive event.)
