We are delighted to return tonight to support Stan at Friends of Hamworthy Park now the light is back!
A few of us met at Upton Country Park in light of day, red T-shirts out and clothes ready for painting or mud! Impressively, Elizabeth and Jane had both run plod 5 miles last night. On Sunday it was Bournemouth Bay 10k which equally Elizabeth, Christine, Patricia, and Jane had run! This team have impressive levels of endurance certainly putting some of the rest of us to shame! It was a lovely scenic route down, zip zags across Upton and out around the harbour passing houses which back onto the bays reeds.
Sian had to join us a bit later due to awaiting childcare and appeared out of nowhere on the side path on Hamworthy with some impressive sat nav skills!
Patricia met us at the park, the word on the street being she had already cycled 48km today as part of her challenge in June! Another absolute strong woman!
Onto Hamworthy Park and the West Coppice where Stan was ready for us! Sadly since we last met, Stan has had Covid and still feeling effects of long covid. However somehow he has still managed to fit into his little Austin a30 van, 12 seats to go on the new benches in the park, on the style of jenga!
Goodgym runners all have something in common- a natural ability to just crack on with it! Within minutes of arriving, Patricia had disappeared under the table, apparently screwing something (!),Elizabeth equally head to the floor whilst Sian was finding what number bench went where! Christine soon had a trowel in hand and Jane was hammering like her life depended on it!
Three benches, all needing 4 seats each attached, a few squabbles over nuts and bolts, lots of 'spannering', a few loose nuts and even one without a hole! We really do just get on with the task in hand!
45 mins later and 3 benches ready for sitting on and a few ends for Stan to sort!
It was time for a jog back up the hill, this time the quicker route along the main road before cutting back onto Upton Park. A solid 4.5 miles covered with great company and a trio of benches put together- what a team!
Go Goodgym!
