Whether it was the weather, the end of the financial year, or something else, the numbers at the Achilles group run tonight were down. Luckily for two VI runners, there were two GoodGymmers on hand to help guide them round the track tonight.

Katy and Lucy met Andrew and Naqi at Maida Vale tube station, and made our way through the Baltic breeze to Paddington Rec. As there were so few of us this week, we had to utilise the lockers at the track. Fortunately, Naqi had a few pound coins, and we had a group game of locker Tetris trying to fit all our bags and coats into three tiny boxes, before we could even head put on the track!

Naqi was keen to try and run with his broken arm following a skiing incident a few weeks back, and Lucy guided him around 5.5k, with one lap of ‘brisk walking’, and one lap of ‘jogging’. It might have been a jog for super speedy Naqi, but for Lucy it was definitely a few gears higher! Katy on the other hand, joined Andy for a nicely paced 8k around the freezing field.

If the freezing temperatures weren’t enough (it’s almost April?!), we had a flurry or snow during the track session, and an icy shower on the second lap too - the sprinklers on the hockey pitch went on and there was no escaping the downpour on the back straight!

We warmed up getting our bits back put of the locker, and led the boys back to the underground. Despite the cold, we had a great session, and both the runners really appreciated having us out on a chilly Thursday!
