Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Madhan
When I signed up, the mission title read Tidy and weed small back garden
. But it was an understatement
After finding Ms.P's house on the estate, I spotted thick weeds and vines growing abundantly on the front porch and garden. I thought that would be the task for today. Ms.P welcomed me with a lovely smile.
He is Rupert. He is my companion dog and is 12 years old - Ms.P
I had a lovely welcome from the black labrador who took a quick sniff on my GoodGym t-shirt and started wagging his tail. Ms.P couldn't hear well due to her age and she is not steady in her feet as well. I thought I'll get as much instruction as possible early and let Ms.P enjoy the Wimbledon on TV.
Ms.P is unsure what task to give me. We went to the back garden and noticed it was not a mission for 1 or 2 or even 3. It might require at least 5-6 visits with 2-3 goodgymers.
The vines are at least 20 feet tall and 4-5 inches thick
After some thought Ms.P said to give a sweep around the back garden and put them in the brown bin. I got some black bin bags from Ms.P and started putting the leaves in them. She suggested that the council won't consider that as garden waste if it is in black bin bags and advised me to bring the brown bin to the back garden via the side entrance and dump the leaves directly.
So I did the same. I asked Ms.P whether I'll cut some thick brambles that are growing on the side of the house when I'm sweeping. She agreed. Unfortunately, there were no shears or pruning tools available in the shed. There were a few shovels, forks, mattocks, and a variety of brushes.
Also, the weeds have overgrown and were covering half the house on all sides. It is a trip hazard for sure, but I decided to stick to the task at hand and pulled some weeds and vines where possible.
After scrapping & sweeping the garden floors with different types of brushes, I filled half the brown bin and Ms.P said that should be enough for today and advised that I should go back home as it was already 15 past 6.
I had a glass of water and Ms.P felt grateful for the work that GoodGym is doing. I had a look around the house and the house is filled with a lot of dog toys. Everything looked like Rupert. Also, I got my t-shirt cleaned with the latest licking tech from Rupert.
They are playing really well. The match has been going on for quite some time - Ms.P on Wimbledon
The match was still going on when I left Ms.P's house.
PS: Little did I know it was the Wimbledon finals today
