Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner
Tonight's task was located at Windsor Boys' School, and Juli and Sheila were joined by regular GoodGym tourist Jen from the Slough branch. We met with Nina, the Operations Manager at the school, and her husband Mike, who gave us a rundown of the tasks. A thick layer of leaves had accumulated on parts of the school car park, making it difficult to use. We set to work with shovels, brooms and rakes, filling up an industrial-sized wheelie bin. Before long we had cleared the area and revealed the car park markings beneath - who knew? As we worked, the car park was quite busy with out-of-hours users, and the 7 freed-up spaces were immediately put into use by grateful drivers. Juli, Jen and Mike moved on to clearing up the area around the bins of accumulated rubbish, while Nina and Sheila swept the leaves that had accumulated in the covered bike shelters. All to the accompaniment of some beautiful singing from the Windsor & Eton Choral Society, who happened to be using the school hall. Beautiful. It was great to see the difference that we had been able to make in such a short time. At the end of the task, we made our way home, Jen ran/walked back to her car parked some distance away, and Sheila cycled back to Maidenhead to a welcome plum crumble!
The Windsor Boys’ School is a 13-18 comprehensive school for boys. We aim to provide for the needs of young people aged 13 to 18 to enable them to fulfil their potential and become responsible citizens of the future.
