Now in its 4th year, the Round Sheffield Run has a become a popular event in the race calendar. This off road race consists of 11 timed stages taking in some of the best views across Sheffield, with recovery sections in between. This requires remembering when you dibbed out and calculating when you need to dib in at the next stage - a running race with an added mental arithmetic challenge - what's not to love!

While most of us were still in bed, Super Sam got started in the 8.30am elite wave. After a solid start and having nailed a recovery stage selfie, he put in a sterling effort on stage 3 - a fun and fast woodland descent through the Limb Valley - clocking the third best ever Strava time and beating his running club rivals. This early charge took a bit of a toll, but a superb overall run saw him finish 19th in a highly competitive field and be first GG in line at the beer tent - well done Sam!

The rest of us enjoyed the trails at a more leisurely pace, with Sweet-scoffing Suze and Courageous Caroline becoming a bit too laid back at the first feed station. After 10 minutes of grazing on jelly babies and with 2 minutes of the break remaining, they realised the start of the next stage was a good 10 minute walk away so had to sprint through the recovery section to dib in with 3 seconds to spare!

There were no such first timer mistakes from Strongman Stephen and Terrific Tam, who put in some cracking efforts to knock off 21 and 16 minutes from last year's times. It's great to see when months of committed training and Tom's excellent GoodGym coaching all pays off - though Steve puts his success entirely down to the homemade GEEK BAND that helped him pace each stage to perfection! Either way, it was a great achievement and well deserving of a few celebratory pints.

All in all this was a thoroughly enjoyable and successful run, apart from out lack of GG kit or team photos, and we're already looking forward to getting a big GG team together for RSR2018!!
