A festive feast for Friday the 13th!
2 GoodGymers made their way 4.0km to help the Westbank, Healthy Living and Community Centre in Exeter.
- Friday, 13th of December 2019
- Led by Pete Hodges
Two GoodGym runners (well, a runner and a cyclist) spent the afternoon with people who attend an Exeter charity's social groups. Rachel, who spent her lunch hour running to and volunteering at the event, and Pete, who cycled in on a day off, were were joined by Vicky and Laura who already work with Westbank AND take part in GoodGym (Santa will definitely bring them a sleigh-load of presents, surely). Westbank, based in Exminster, provides care and promotes health to communities across Devon and beyond.
Westbank were hosting a Christmas party for more than 40 people who participate in their regular social groups and activities such as the memory cafes, which offer peer support, advice, information for people with memory problems and their carers.
We socialised with the guests and got them settled in, helped to serve food and drinks (of course we had a bit ourselves - thank you to the kitchen staff!), and cleared away after the event finished.
It was a really way to help people celebrate Christmas with great food, drink and company! It was also great to work with and chat to volunteers and staff at Westbank.
