A few screws (and a hammer) short of a toolkit
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Wednesday, 18th of October 2017
On a wet Wednesday evening, Jess, Steve and I met in a Kings Cross estate for our mission. When we finally found our way into the gated complex, Mr Z gratefully met us and revealed the job before us: the largest Ikea wardrobe I’d seen in two months of regular GoodGym furniture construction.
Not to be dissuaded, Steve (with historic and recent personal experience in the art) took on the role of Project Manager and the three of us set to work. Mr Z himself was keen to assist and furnished us with tools; with the notable and unfortunate absence of a hammer. We managed to improvise using a Leatherman knife, screwdriver heads and my fist!
In just over an hour, the wardrobe was almost complete, apart from the doors. Ikea let us down slightly by leaving out a few screws but Mr Z was chuffed at the job and will definitely be calling on GoodGym’s services again.
