Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
In nearly perfect exercising conditions the Camden GoodGym Group made their way down to the Calthorpe Project in Kings Cross. This is a great project offering a range of services to the local community, including a children's 'Access to Nature' play projects, and Gardening projects for all ages.
We were helping Gardener Gavin essentially destroy some stuff... He needed to dig out a large raised area full of brick and soil and wanted us to dig out the roots of three unwanted trees.

In full view of a ladies Zumba class Andrew, James and Mairi set about the roots with gusto, with Andrew wielding a huge pick axe to devasting effect. Rachel, Sara, Sarah and Joe were left with the awkward task of digging the raised bed, carefully avoiding a thin water pipe running underneath the soil. The words 'avoid' and 'pipe' meant little to co-ordinator and general buffoon Shaun who thankfully avoided a leak despite bashing the pipe repeatedly with his spade.

We made great progress filling a 3 tonne sack with rubble and nearly taking out all three roots in half an hour. Gavin was delighted.
On the root home (sorry) we went to Brunswick Park and showed a Boot Camp Class how its really done....by employing fast, relaxed and efficient running technique. We focusing on a few key aspects of good running technique as we dashed around the park. Good work guys!
