A lightbulb moment
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Slough.
- Friday, 5th of February 2021
So I’ve been chatting to Mrs H now for nearly one year via the #oneslough befriending service set up to support the vulnerable in Slough during the first lockdown.
11 months on and we still have a lovely chat every Wednesday.
Usually Mrs H doesn’t need me to arrange anything for her. She is so happy go lucky and an absolutely charming lady to talk to.
However on Wednesday she said she had two DIY jobs that needed doing.
When she told me what they were I knew exactly who could do these for her
Goodgym of course
So I referred her request back to Slough CVS team to log as a mission.
I would have loved to have taken on this job as a mission verified runner so when the date changed from Thursday (which I couldn’t do) to Friday (which I could do!) I absolutely jumped at the chance to help her.
So after my 6 hour vaccine Centre volunteer shift I headed over to see Mrs H and fixed her washroom support frame and changed a lightbulb for her!
Happy Days
She was over the moon! As was I to finally meet her in person and to be able to help her with a practical task.
