Starting Saturday with a lie-in can be lovely. But it's never as lovely as getting up and out for a little good-deeding. Especially when you get the chance to see someone as lovely as Miss C.

I started my slow plod from Greenwich to Sydenham at just after 9. Cold, quiet, and a little grey, I let my morning thoughts drift as I plugged in and focused on a podcast. It's a bit of a treat being able to watch London wake up as you run by. From Greenwich, I passed over a quiet Blackheath Common, bundled down into a busy and bustling Lewisham and Catford, and stepped through a bit of serenity in the super-underused Waterlink Way (if you visit, do look up, you may just see some happy parakeets). There aren't many cities where you pass through so much life - and all of it varied - in so short a distance.

This was the second time I'd met the lovely Miss C and we shot the breeze a little about how the sun was a little more outgoing in early September. Then we got down to the mission - Miss C was prepared - list, cash, and bags ready and waiting. And with them, I shot over to Aldi and Sainsbury's for Miss C's items. Nice and ordinary, but with a small revelation too. My word, Aldi is good value. I'm glad my face covering masked my dropping jaw at the checkout - nice work, Miss C, you sure know where the bargains are.

And with Miss C's cache of change and bags of groceries, I shot back to hers to drop them off and have a quick smile and goodbye. Thanks for brightening a grey Saturday morning, Miss C.

Nice one.

Great report Alex! I use the Waterlink Way most days, it's great to see it getting busier, it's a fantastic route :)
