Report written by Alex Murtough (he/him)
Monday evening felt like Spring.
And there's something special about London in Springtime. Well, that's what I was thinking as I trundled up through the Barbican and Angel and over past Old Street. But maybe I was just in a good mood because I'd clocked off work a little earlier than usual.
Who knows. I don't and it was my bloomin' thought. Anyway. I'm digressing. And digression is a tactic for all writers who don't know what they want to write. And they digress and digress and digress on and on and on into ad infinitum. And all in the hope that the reader may lost interest...
Did I succeed?
Damn it, you most persistent of persistent readers :)
Anyway, onto the report.
GG Islington's Mali and I spent a swift 30-40 minutes giving a bit of sparkle to the floors and surfaces of the Arc Centre food bank at the Packington Gallery. A space choc full of groceries and essentials, the team there clearly keep a tidy ship already. Our job was to make sure it stays that way so they can focus on the important stuff. Which we did in a flash and all whilst shooting the breeze and sharing our stories.
Whilst we were there, two friendly souls popped their heads around the door to ask about accessing the food bank. We directed them to more information and I hope they can access what they need soon.
Which made me feel very fortunate. Fortunate for being lucky enough to have what I have, for the knowledge that places like the Arc Centre exist and do what they do, and for being able to help (even if only a touch) just a little.
A lovely way to see out a Monday and see in our new season.
Nice one.
