Oooh, we do love a litter pick!!! Who’d have thought that 5 grown adults would enjoy scouring the streets for scraps of litter quite so much. Us, it turns out!! I didn’t realise just how much you lovely lot enjoyed it! Relaxing and quite therapeutic were two of the terms I heard you use tonight!! I can’t disagree though – you can let your mind drift off when you’re litter picking as it doesn’t require much, if any, concentration – other than checking in with Nigel every now and again to make sure he hasn't got lost - he does enjoy wandering off in the opposite direction to the rest of us – Karen invested in a light for him though – a great way of keeping track of him!! Lol!

Emily, Karen, Maurice, Nigel & Nicola met at the Sherborne estate bungalows for a litter picking session. The weather was on our side and the evening was quite mild. We set off for our run/walk and took a circular route – quite a pleasant route with the only undulation being the tree roots along some of the pavements! It’s strange to be back to running in the dark again. We’d better get used to it though, as the clocks go back on Sunday!

Back on the estate and we set to work filling our bags. We had a lovely little chat about Halloween with some of the children on the estate and they helped to put one or two pieces of litter into our bags. Their houses were beautifully decorated ready for the 31st! We spent the best part of an hour collecting rubbish and felt a great sense of achievement at the end when we look at the amount we’d collected.

We decided that we’d round off our evening with a lovely drink and a few nibbles in Hops bar. Two rounds later and we decided it was about time that we went home! It was a lovely having a good natter and planning our Christmas social. We always have a good laugh and it’s just lovely to be in the company of such a gorgeous bunch of friends. I have many things to thank Goodgym for – lovely friendships being one of them!

Well done everyone on a great task done and for being such wonderful company.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Lots of love, Nicola xx
