Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Lucy Hill
I had signed up to help Ms J with some shopping on Thursday, and I clearly was not with it as I thought the mission was also on Thursday. My phone was running out of battery, so I wrote down her list and address and made my merry way to Lidl.
Not all the items were in stock, so I popped into Sainsburys and managed the rest, apart from the powdered milk, which unfortunately would have to go amiss. I paid, and my phone died, Apple Pay having taken its last bit of energy.
Now I was clever, and had wrote down the address, like I said, and knew roughly the area I needed to be at. I found the flat, and there was no doorbell for her number. I tried the others, and her neighbour kindly let me in. I went up to Ms J’s flat on the top floor, and knocked a few times and waited. There was no reply and her neighbour informed me she often wasn’t in. I left her a little note written on the paper kitchen towel wrapper to say I’d been, and left the bag of groceries on the doorstep.
I thanked the neighbour and cycled back home, after a long day of work and doing good. When my phone came back to life and had a little bit of charge in, I tried to find Ms J’s number to give her a call. It was at this point I realised I’d cabbaged up - the mission was actually supposed to be on Friday, the next day.
Ms J didn’t answer her phone when I tried that evening, or the next. So I can only hope she did manage to get her shopping and get it in the fridge! I’m sorry for my mis-steak, Ms J. Next mission I’d leek to say I will beef checking my dates more thoroughly!
(Also, as my phone died, I didn’t take many pictures, so I have completed some art work of the story for you all to enjoy instead).
