Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Share the love

In 90 mins, 14 people ran 7k, moved 12 barrows of straw, turned one ton of compost and split down a pallet

Last night we met at the Arch Gallery and chatted about the "progression" training runs we've been doing between GoodGym sessions as we waited for everyone to arrive. We did a quick warm up and headed out towards our destination. We took back streets to run south, crossing Mile End Road and down Stepney Way to Stepney City Farm.

"Pitch forks in hand"

Katharine explained which piles of compost should be shifted where, and we got straight on. Pitch forks in hand we noted how dark it was and carefully began the task of turning one pile onto another to give it oxygen and help it rot down fast. Richard and Andrew grabbed a pallet and set about the sweaty task of breaking it down with utility bars and hammers, harvesting the wood to be used for building stuff on the farm.

"Back into the night"

After 27 mins fast work, we set off back into the night - one group ran back the way we came to make up a 5k round trip, the others ran further east into Mile End Park and north up the canal to complete a 7k evening.

Good Luck to Hannah and Sarah for the Ealing Half on Sunday, and massive well done to Pete Dyson for representing the UK in the triathlon last weekend.
