Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nicola Marshall
Wednesday’s are always one of my favourite days of the week, and it’s easy to understand why when I get to spend it with lovely people, sprinkling a little bit of Goodgym goodness on our community.
Storm Ciaran is allegedly on its way to us, but we were blessed this evening with dry weather despite the threat of rain. We hoped it would be this way because we were out on the streets of Crewe town centre picking up litter.
Before starting our task, we had a brisk walk together. As always, we enjoyed chatting and catching up on each other’s weeks and what we’ve been up to.
The dark nights do make it a bit difficult to do outdoor tasks, so tonight we chose to focus on the town centre which was pretty well lit. We did have our torches with us and these did come in handy for some of the darker parts, but on the whole, the town lights and the pretty tree lights really helped to light up our route.
We collected three big bags of rubbish, Maurice’s bag was especially heavy! He always manages to get more in his bag no matter how hard I try!! It’s sometimes disheartening to discover that people drop so much litter in the place where they live, but we don't let this get us down and just work on the basis of the fact that we’re helping to improve it and we feel better for doing it!!
When we’d finished, we decided to go and warm up in Hops bar with a cheeky drink, and a few nibbles. It was a lovely end to our evening. Thank you Karen & Maurice for being so awesome.
Have a great week and hopefully see you next time!!
Lots of love Nicola Xxxx
