A slip of the tongue during the run briefing left most of the group confused; and a little disappointed when I announced our destination as the Brickmakers Arms - instead of Brickmakers Wood!

Once the realisation that we weren't going straight to a pub set in, we headed off for the relatively short run - with a posse of back markers (Sally, Nicola, Daniella and Adeline). We had good numbers tonight and it was particularly good to see Steve back after a long absence due to injury.

On arrival at the venue Rob was waiting for us with a few tasks - moving a pallet of compost bags, clearing a couple of small areas to make access easier and then, lots of sawing of logs and tree trunks to make into bags of firewood the charity sells to help fund their activities with a variety of community groups.

Tom, Keith, Lizzie and Andrew made short work of moving the compost bags in a wheelbarrow relay, whilst the rest of the group were armed with various saws and got stuck into a vigorous upper body workout- sawing and bagging a logs . Some of the thicker trunks being a real challenge as Paul, Kerry, Alex and Robin found - there may be a some arm and shoulder related DOMs in the next day or so.

With the 30 minute sawing frenzy complete we were back out on the road taking in a hilly route back to the waterfront including a jog down the notorious Devonshire Road, which is probably the steepest hill in Ipswich, with only a few takers for the voluntary effort back up, before a quick sprint relay on the Waterfront. Everyone was moving so fast they were just a blur and a few of the sprints got even quicker when an excitable dog wanted to join the fun!

A stretch to finish and a summing up of where we are in our January challenge targets - which have now been updated with last night's task included:

42 OUT OF 100 GOOD DEEDS DONE 907 OUT OF 2,500 KMS RUN

So we need a really good turn out for the remaining Group Runs this month and don't forget to link your Goodgym profiles to Strava!

Next week we have a task to do some cleaning for Families In Need (FIND) Food Bank - See the Details and Sign Up here
