On Monday at the South Ealing Food Cupboard, the team at St Mary’s mentioned they’d be short of volunteers for Wednesday’s Polygonian Friends Lunch and asked if I could lend a hand.
I helped with the preparations by making sandwiches (specialising in cheese!) and ensuring a fair distribution of sweet treats across the tables. Once the guests arrived, I joined my wonderfully international table, took orders for soups and hot drinks and made sure everyone had what they needed.
The lovely lunch was rounded off with a quiz, where I pitched in as both scribe and “text speak expert.” It was such an enjoyable way to spend my lunchtime, full of good company, fun and a chance to learn more about the area from locals.
