Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nicola Marshall
Last night, 4 lovely Goodgym members made their way to the Motherwell hub to help them with a variety of tasks that needed doing.
Motherwell is a local charity that does amazing work to support women within the community. We’ve done tasks for them before and it’s always a pleasure to support the fantastic work that they do. Tonight was no exception as we met with founder and Chief Exec.
But before we started our jobs, we went on another lovely run. The surrounding area of the Motherwell hub is beautiful as there’s plenty of woodland and green space to enjoy. After a quick warmup, we set off from base and headed down to the public footpath that leads to the park. The brook winds its way alongside the path and I’ve spotted kingfishers along there before now, but sadly, not tonight. When we reached the crossroads, we turned around and took a slightly different route back making it an almost circular route. The only downside of the circular route is the enormous hill at the end – still, it made for a good cardio exercise as we sort of sprinted our way up!
When we arrived back, Kate set us to work. Emily & Kat started to assemble two clothing rails. The rails will house all the winter coats that are donated to the uniform exchange. They set to work and soon had the rails put together. Maurice mowed the big long lawn at the back of the garden. It looked lovely when he’d finished and definitely kept the heart pumping. And I was tasked with the job of organising the two book shelves that form the library. This was a dream job as I’d always wanted to be a librarian when I was a child, lol! I was in my element as I sorted the books into genres. Emily & Kat were so fast that they were then able to help sort out putting more clothes onto hangers. I’d say it was a pretty productive evening.
As always, the company was fabulous! Well done everyone on another amazing night supporting local charities in our local community. You’re all awesome.
