Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Tom Benson
On a Sunny Sunday, Crystal Palace played host to the regional SEAA Road Race Relay championship, a world first for the GoodGym Race team. Up for grabs for the top 3 teams was a place in the national finals!! >That’s right GoodGym are potentially rubbing shoulders with the future Mo’s in this world. So the race involved starting in the Stadium then heading out for two laps around Crystal Palace Park and then heading back in the Stadium to hand over to the next member of the team. The course involves a nice up hill and then and gentle downhill, the 2nd time around the hill was less pleasant however the downhill was still cracking.
GoodGym race team fielded two teams of Vest clad superstars, unfortunately on the Saturday James Gilbert injured his foot during Park Run so Graham Atkins decided that running a half Marathon would be the perfect warm up and decided to do two runs that day, (f.y.i. he ran his half in a new pb of 1:26:.., absolutely mega effort Graham). Although we didn’t challenge the leaders this time, we certainly brought Red Thunder to Crystal Palace with cracking cheering and had a cracking day.
Highgate Harriers took the glory with former Camden Trainer Sean ‘quick feet’* Dixon, smashed the competition and will be looking to regain their national title.
Mega thanks to Axel for sorting this one out, if you like the look of this and fancy doing some more all Race Team Members are welcome to get in involved in the Cross Country Season, it’s going to be mega, here is the first one. XC Met League: Claybury
*his real middle name is not quick feet’ but he is rather quick.
