16 Goodgymers (and myself) ran 4.5k and shimmied there way through a task mulching 16 apple trees for The Friends of Chestnuts

Get a grasp rather than mulch to do about nothing

This week we were heading along to help the friends of Chestnuts mulch some of their apple trees. Before this the group had a chance to catch up with each other and greet the newcomers. Shouts out to Billie, Chima and Abigail who came along to their first GGH session. Give em a cheer folks!!

The task involved clearing a circle at the base of each apple tree to make way for the incoming mulch, but first sheets of newspaper were laid down to help prevent the grass growing back.

The group split into three on arrival and Ollie (who met us there) had a briefing prior to our arrival so helped greatly by taking one of the groups off to get shifting mulch from a huge pile and disseminate it among the base of each tree. The other two groups focused on getting a good grasp of the grass, laying the paper and spreading the mulch once delivered. Oh Chima and Hazel also did some watering too.

16 trees were finished and the group took pride in getting these done. After clearing up and putting a hose away that seemed to be having a wined up we were off again in the direction of HQ but not before a round of high fives.

Superb job folks!!

The group headed over to Chicken Town for a well deserved feed up at the GGH social. Don't forget the GoodGym social on May 4th in Croydon
