Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Brr! 21 cold but enthusiastic runners met at Vivo Health Club. They were all Heroes for making it out on our coldest run for a long time.
We headed off to help Incredible Edible, a group of gardeners who turn unused spaces in to vegetable and fruit gardens, returning to a small patch of ground that we've been to several times before; it's been great to see the Changes throughout the time we've visited, with lots of root vegetables planted in spaces that we've cleared, and it's a great place to take Absolute Beginners to GoodGym - not too far to run, a great group to work with, and a space that really needs a lot of love!
As always, everyone got stuck in to the task, including a couple of chaps with an ax and a mattock - those Boys Keep Swinging when they've got a mattock in their hands! We seemed to have enough lights to prove that there's Life On Mars, given it was quite dark in the garden, and under their steady glow, a massive spiky hedge got given a hair cut of the latest Fashion - it lead us to wonder why do people plant such spiky plants? They really hurt when you have to trim them.
To keep moving and try and keep warm, after about 25 minutes we downed tools and headed off to the large flat open space in the Bear Pit for a little bit of body weight training and running around - I'm sure that everyone felt a lovely Slow Burn as they lunged, press-upped, and squated and perhaps like saying 'Lets Dance!' afterwards. Or perhaps not... Well, we weren't quite Dancing in The Street on the way back to Vivo but I think that the pace picked up a bit as we got closer and closer, if only to escape the icy wind.
A quick stretch and we were done - very happily we headed back in to Vivo to pop on a few more layers. Big well done, chaps, I hope you had a great time and congrats on getting so much done in such a short amount of time - every gent who turned up is a total Starman, and every lady a starwoman!
