Report written by Colchester runner
The sun was shining and our deed of twelve goodgymers (yes, Colchester Goodgym have a collective noun for a group of goodgymers!) were full of smiles.
We split into two groups of six and everyone put in a fantastic effort to help Pam and Jo from Colchester in Bloom to clear a section of the river and footpath of weeds, weed a herb patch and plant more herbs, weed the metal structure of a nearby bridge, remove moss from the river wall and tidy the nearby fountain area at Middleborough.
The tremendous effort put in by all made a dramatic difference in such a short time. The area is now ready for Colchester in Bloom to place plant boxes along the river wall - we look forward to seeing them in place and no doubt help to keep the plant boxes and area looking beautiful.
Joining in with community missions like this one not only benefits the local community, but the social benefits of being part of such a kind and giving group is such good food for the soul. If you want to get involved and join our amazing deed of Goodgymers doing what they do best, keep an eye out and sign up for upcoming missions here.
Until next time, stay safe.
