Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Alex Murtough (he/him)
I felt lucky on Thursday afternoon.
A morning spent at the desk (the kitchen table) in the office (my kitchen / lounge / dining room - or as the letting agent said, a space for 'open plan living') with the colleagues (all virtual) left me feeling a little underwhelmed.
But I did have something to look forward to. Mrs A and I had had a quick natter mid-morning to say Hi and to firm up our plans for the afternoon. Even over the phone and for just a few seconds, I could tell how lovely Mrs A is.
And so I left Greenwich in the afternoon feeling more positive about the hours to come. The weather was beautiful - sun always looks better in Autumn, right? - and it was a short and wellbeing-fuelled jaunt over to Lewisham and Mrs A's.
My task was simple. Mrs A had a parcel that needed sending and she wasn't venturing out at the moment. As simple as simple can be.
Mrs A left the parcel on a chair outside her flat and poked her head around the door to say Hi. We shared a few quick words and smiles (even if behind a mask) and I shot off to the post office to get her package on its way.
Over the phone and in person, Mrs A was so grateful. But, and I imagine it's the same for all GoodGymers, I felt lucky to be able to be out, moving, and meeting someone wonderful like Mrs A. And so the thanks really should come from me.
Nice one.
