Report written by Antonio (he/him)
On this lovely bright Tuesday evening, a group of runners laced up their running shoes and headed to Martin Primary School on a mission: To cover the garden path with wood chippings. The Phoenix Cinema was shut, as a new screen is currently being fitted, so can't wait to watch some more great films there soon! After a brief warm up and introductions, the group of seven, set off on their short run to the school.
Upon arrival, we wasted no time and got straight to work. Armed with wheelbarrows and shovels, we quickly filled the barrows with wood chipping and got to work on the path, starting at the bottom of the garden and making our way up towards the gate at the top. During the work, a little robin decided to visit the team and kept a watchful eye on our progress. It wasn't long before the path was transformed, with a smooth, earthy wood chipping surface. As we stood back and admired our handy work, I think we all felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. And we managed to finish the job, all within the hour! I would go as far as saying that we really chipped away at that path! And it was a wheelbarrow of fun!
So all that remains is to thank this dream team who, really guys, you were on fire: Celine, who joined us for her very first run. Welcome to GoodGym Barnet, we hope this is the start of a beautiful and lasting journey with the GoodGym. Cloud who this week kindly back-marked. Jyothsna, Theodore, Niki (who probably did her shortest run ever, to and from the school), we couldn't have done this without your support and Louise, who kept us going by playing some great tunes from 'O Brother, Where Art Thou', the Cohen Brothers film loosely based on Homer's epic Greek poem the Odyssey. With your energy, enthusiasm, and commitment, you bring a real community spirit, kindness, and joy to every task. Onwards and upwards!

It's always extra satisfying if you complete a task. Welcome Celine!
