Storm Eunice Storm Franklin You're no match for GoodGymers!

With the storm easing, our GoodGymers set about on their weekly Tuesday group run to help our local charity, Leonard Cheshire, to tend to their allotment plot.

We visited the site back in sunny September to help Leonard Cheshire to STORM through some cutting back and shifting earth to enable service users to begin planting and enjoying the space. In this session, we saw the start of an exciting transformation of the beautiful plot, nestled amongst the busy A6. A haven of solitude and quiet amongst the car chaos.

When we return, what a sight it was. The planting had begun, the flower beds were even and the majority of the bramble debris had been piled ready for disposal.

Samir, our volunteer coordinator, had arranged for a skip to be delivered and our task was to rid the allotment of the rotting debris, any rubbish and enable the mass planting to begin.

We had a BARROW of laughs doing our wheelbarrow run ups to tip the rubbish into the skip. We made friends with the allotment's watchful cat and unearthed an array of items - from mosaic tiles to fridge freezers.

We set back off after the skip was nearly full, and completed our 9km run without a spot of rain or gust of wind defeating us.
